Vision Aid Overseas

Wycherley Opticians is proud to support Vision Aid Overseas. We do this by collecting both money and used spectacles you no longer need, to send to Vision Aid Overseas for sorting, classifying + sending to needy parts of the world with the teams of volunteer optometrists and dispensing opticians.

Vision Aid Overseas aims to transform access to quality eyecare in developing countries. Over 500 million people worldwide are unnecessarily visually impaired because they do not have spectacles. This is due to the significant lack of eyecare services available in low and middle income countries. For people affected the consequences can be disadvantage and disability. Our work is focused on improving the lives of people who are marginalised by poor eyesight and motivated by our belief that good vision should be a right for all, not just those who can afford it. Our vision is a world in which everyone has access to eyecare and spectacles.

Chernobyl Children

Chernobyl Children Life Line

Wycherley Opticians has been pleased over the last several years to support the work of North Notts Link of the Chernobyl Children Life Line Charity by testing the eyes of all the children who come to stay in Ashfield area with families each summer and supplying free glasses to those children needing them.

For those who may not know about the work of this charity here is a short quote from their website.

“Our charity, Chernobyl Children Life Line, aims to bring children, affected by the disaster, to the UK for a four week stay with British families. It is estimated that one month with a family here in the UK boosts their immune system to such an extent, that it may give them another two years on their life expectancy. The children who come to our area will not be ill and may seem outwardly healthy but they all deserve your help.”
